Links in welcome emails

Hi, I'm not able to put links in my welcome emails. When I change text into a link with the editor, there's no option for me to input the URL for it. Only the formatting changes, with the text I wanted to change into a link being underlined and clickable. But clicking it doesn't lead anywhere.
